The Rev. Karl E. Griswold-Kuhn, Rector
“Dear Members and Friends of Christ Church,
Grace and Peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! My name is Karl Griswold-Kuhn and I am thrilled to be called as your next rector. My wife Jen, daughter Judith (age two) and I will be moving from Glens Falls, New York where we have been ministering at Church of the Messiah for the past six years.
Just a little about ourselves: I grew up in Syracuse, NY and attended a non-denominational bible college in Portland, Oregon right out of high school. I then worked as district manager in a northeast coffee company until returning to school at the University of Albany, NY. I double-majored in Political Theory and Philosophy and, most importantly, met Jen. It was at this time that I began attending an Episcopal Church and discerning a call to ministry.
In the winter of 2008, Jen and I were married and confirmed at St. Peter’s Church in Albany. That summer, we moved to New Haven, CT so that I could attend seminary at Yale Divinity School. Upon graduation, I became rector of a small country parish in Kinderhook, NY. I served there for three years before moving an hour north to our current parish.
Jen is a native Texan. Born in Houston, her family moved from Katy to Upstate NY when she was two. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies from the University at Albany. She has been a stay at home mom for the past two years. Most recently, she worked as a remote Executive Assistant to the CEO of The Pocket Testament League, a nonprofit organization that prints small, pocket-sized Gospels of John in several languages for use in evangelism.
We are really looking forward to meeting all of you and getting to know your families. Once we are settled in, we plan to host a number of social events to get acquainted. The most important thing for you to know is that we are madly in love with Jesus. As sinners saved by grace through faith, we love to tell the good news of Jesus Christ. It is a joy to participate in the kingdom-building work that we are all called to.
God has been faithful to us during our time here in upstate NY, and we are ready to see what He has in store for us with you in Nacogdoches!
Peace of Christ,
Karl, Jen and Judith”
